Description of House in Languedoc Roussillon:
A beautiful and imposing five bedroomed house, with pool, just five minutes stroll from the Canal de Jonction and village shops, bar and restaurants.
The house dates from the mid-nineteenth century and is located on the edge of the charming canal side village of Sallèles d’Aude, fifteen minutes from Narbonne and thirty-five minutes from the golden beaches of the Mediterranean.

The accommodation comprises a large salon, snug with open fireplace, kitchen and adjoining dining room, laundry room, a bathroom on the first floor and shower room downstairs.

There are four double bedrooms and one family room, which has one double and one single bed, and 2 large attics with conversion potential.

There is a large garage and the driveway offers further off road parking. The lovely private pool is screened by the garden's mature shrubs and trees.

Narbonne - Surrounding area:
The house is situated on the outskirts of the lovely little canal side village of Sallèles d'Aude. The village has 2 little supermarkets, 2 excellent bakeries, a butcher, tabac, pharmacy, petrol station and Post Office. There are 2 restaurants, one very typically French little bar, a pizza takeaway and a kebab shop! The canal and all amenities are within 5 minutes walk from the house.

Narbonne was the first Roman colony outside of Italy, and was located at the crossroads of the Via Domitia, the Roman road linking Italy to Spain.

It has beautiful canal side restaurants, narrow streets with a diverse range of interesting shops and cafes. For the cooks, don’t miss Les Halles, the permanent indoor market, offering every imaginable fresh ingredient.

Driving time from the house is 15 to 20 minutes - depending on your nationality!

The medieval city of Carcassonne is about 40 minutes away and offers a very different town experience. For history, shopping, restaurants and bars, we are really spoiled for choice!

The glorious golden beaches of the Mediterranean stretch for miles along the Languedoc coastline. The closest is at Narbonne Plage, a lively little resort just 35 minutes from our house, but Gruissan and Leucate, a little further away, are firm favourites and offer a less touristy beach excursion.
