In Matha the nearest larger town( 10 mins) there are all facilities including a new 3 Supermarkets, Doctors, Pharmacies, Opticians, Hairdressers, 2 Restauarants, 2 Bars, ALL general trades, 3 Boulangeries, Dress shops, Butchers, Florists, Jewellers, Tourist Office,Gymnasium, Schools, Cinema, Salle des Fetes etc. A weekly indoor market and a very large street market each month.
Here originated some 10 years ago a very active Anglo/French society called ‘Nous & You’ in which helps people integrate into the community and organise various events and outings during the year. They also offer free French classes for all levels which we have found a great way to meet new people. Many of the French shop keepers have joined the society. Bank Populaire also have some English speaking staff and there are two very good French/English newspapers which keep us all up to date with events.
