Description of Farmhouse in Normandy:
A character property in local stone rests in the heart of the national park of the Marais du Contentin.
To the front of the property is a large garden with mature trees, a red gravelled driveway with ample parking for several cars, high hedges either side of the double wooden gates provides added privacy. APPEVILLE

This is a small but quaint and quiet village, certainly giving you the guarantee that you will live in harmony and peacefulness.

The village is about 15-20mins drive from the main town of Carentan, but around 10 mins to the next village of Baupte.

Appeville has its own ancient landmark in the form of a church, people that visit it are not only fascinated by its architecture but iwth its history, perhaps this could be a Winter project for someone.

Although the property is some 20-25 mins away from the main town you are only a 5-10min drive away from Baupte, this is again a small village however, it does have several shops, there is a Patisserie, Butchers, small shop for general items, Bar/Tabac its even got a hairdressers and Beauty parlor, so at least you have not got to go far for those essential items.

Just as you leave Baupte there is a small primary school, my research has told me that there is around 150 pupils all of which ooze character, politeness and respectful. One thing is for sure and that is once you have become recognised as a member of the community you are welcomed with open arms in the French typical way.

CARENTAN.

This town is situated in the area of Manche this being a department of Normandy, there are plenty of shops and supermarkets.

This small town has preserved its heritage of architecture who diversity and wealth will definately surprise you. The well-known church, Notre-Dame, and the Organ are both listed monuments, another remarkable piece of architecture is the Town Hall, the town has a renowned square with its 15th century arcades which is all that remains of a covered market, although every Monday there is still a market of varying stalls selling anything from fruit & veg to a motor car, this can be a good place to meet other people and also to taste a little more of their culture.

This town has a good school both for the Junior and infant classes with a play school or kindergarten either of these schools are a good stepping stone not only for the child but for the parent to meet people that could aide you into learning to speak french.

Short distances out of the town will bring you to the more well known areas of Utah & Omaha Beaches, just to of the main beaches used during the Normandy Landings of WWII. Another short distance out of the town will bring you to the N13, the carriageway to Cherbourg, St-Lo, Caen and Bayeau, again, places steeped with history.
